Festive Fungi

Festive Fungi is the collective term I use for all my creature creations.  While I consider fine art painting my main practise, I am unable to surpress the urge to design these quirky, whimsical beings on the side. I hope they lift your spirit a much as they lift mine.

The Fantastical Horde - A Memory Card Game

The idea for this project was born during a two week stay-home-notice in a hotel room in Singapore. The first week I felt restless and only wanted to play computer games. Then in the second week my brain relaxed and inspiration struck. The cards are made by pressing linocuts on 3x3 inch wooden plates with oil-based ink. I sewed the bags with a variety of textiles and added ribbons and wooden beads. The result: a limited edition of ten memory games in bags.

The Otherworldly Creatures

My sketchbooks are filled with fantastical creatures. I turned five of them into an artwork series. The  linework is created by linocut printing and I took my time exploring a variety of backgrounds using a wide range of techniques and mediums. The creatures  (20x15cm) are printed on 12mm MDF board, its sturdiness and natural touch being perfect for the subject. Enjoy!

Always cheerful and a real party animal

A great help in the kitchen when baking bread. Natural habitat: grassy hills. You can see them roll up and down during dusk

Wisest of them all. Smells lies within a range of 3.14 kilometers (Exact distance varies per Snuifbok)

Not very smart but an exceptionally kind and lovable creature. Eats roots and mushrooms. Uses its extended eyes to peek over bushes

Schubbeflutsen are a mighty handy asset to your household: They keep your house warm and clean during the night. Some people are less charmed by them because the coals cast from their volcano leave scorch marks on the floor
